Last week we had the pleasure of celebrating Samantha’s birthday. A special decoration for her bed was prepared in great secrecy by our staff while her parents and brother hosted a special dinner at our Rama restaurant. Our restaurant team has set up a special table decorated in Balinese style. One more good memory to bring back from the Island of the Gods. Happy Birthday dear Samantha!
It is Dajuma that our dear repeaters Anthony & Cheryl from Australia (on the picture) as well as Jay and Sarah respectively from the Netherlands and Italy have chosen to pronounce their wedding vows last week. It was at sunset in the hotel grounds that they performed the rite of the marriage proposal, in an atmosphere that was both solemn and festive. As it should be, a romantic dinner followed in our Gazebo overlooking the beach to the delight of the bride and groom. Congratulations dear friends! We wish you all the best!
Last week, all of Indonesia celebrated Independence Day on August 17, while Jembrana (the regency where Dajuma is located) celebrated Bali Province’s birthday on August 14 and the anniversary of the city of Negara where the local government sits on August 15. After 2 and a half years of pandemic with its strict gathering restrictions, it goes without saying that these birthdays have taken a particularly festive turn. Many activities have been organized by the government, such as student walking competition, fun games, cultural parade and many more. All the roads were decorated with flags boosting the festive atmosphere. A beautiful show very appreciated by our guests!
From June 8 to 18, like every 210 days, Bali celebrates Galungan and Kuningan again. 10 days to celebrate the return of the gods and ancestors to earth and the victory of good over evil. A magnificent tradition full of meaning, which makes the island even more beautiful with its processions and its “penjors” erected along the roads. So wish our staff and their families, after months of pandemic-related deprivation, a particularly happy and festive Galungan and Kuningan. As we say in Bahasa “Selamat Hari Raya Galungan and Kuningan!
Last week, Fabrice and Sylvie discovered a nice surprise in their room on the occasion of their wedding anniversary. A floral arrangement made of flowers picked from the hotel grounds was discreetly arranged by our housekeepers on the bed of their room and it was when they returned from their excursion that they discovered this kind attention. Any significant event is hence celebrated in Dajuma to the delight of our customers. Happy birthday Fabrice and Sylvie! Please come back and see us soon!
On March 3rd, on the first new moon in March, Bali will celebrate the Balinese Hindu New Year, the famous Hari Raya Nyepi also called the “Day of Silence”. Nyepi, marks the start of the Balinese Hindu Saka New Year and the arrival of spring. Beginning at 6 am and lasting until 6 am the following day, Nyepi is a day intended for self-reflection and anything that might disturb this is not allowed. This means no cooking or fires, no entertainment, no travelling and no work of any kind is permitted. On Nyepi, the usually busy streets of Bali fall silent and even though Nyepi is a Hindu festival, non-Hindu residents of Bali will also observe the day of silence out of respect for their fellow citizens. Tourists are free to do what they want inside their hotels but nobody is permitted onto the beaches or streets. The airport in Bali will also be closed for Nyepi and telecommunications companies even switch off internet services for a 24 hour period. A very special moment in the year for all Balinese, unique in the world and particularly appreciated by our guests. Happy Hari Raya Nyepi!
A very nice event took place this week in Dajuma: the birthday of our longtime friend Rina! Before sharing the traditional birthday cake, her close friends organized a very lively zumba. A pure moment of happiness at sunset in a relaxed and warm atmosphere. Happy birthday dear Rina!
Like every year, Dajuma is celebrating Valentine’s Day this week. Despite its distant and controversial origins, it remains for the whole world the feast of lovers that we have decided to celebrate until the end of the month. Come and enjoy a romantic dinner on the beach in a setting specially prepared for you as shown on the picture. You will love it!
Another “annus horribilis” has just ended. A year ago, when we exchanged vows, who could have imagined for a second that the pandemic would last this long. In this unprecedented context, it is very difficult to predict anything for 2022. Thanks to its staff and loyal customers, Dajuma has nevertheless managed to weather the crisis without damage and to view the new year in a more favorable light. We are therefore ready to welcome you in our little paradise in the best conditions of comfort and safety. This day, we are also happy to celebrate the retirement of Sabtu (first row 3rd from the left, white cap) after 19 years spent at Dajuma as a kitchen supervisor. We wish you Dear Sabtu a beautiful and happy retirement as active as possible!

Made from driftwood collected from the beach, our Christmas tree was created again this year by our staff. Due to the resurgence of the pandemic, this year like last year, Christmas will be limited to a minimum of festivities. However, all Dajuma staff are more than ready to welcome you in the best conditions of safety, comfort … and fun, so necessary in this troubled period.
