Among many other special customs, Bali is the place in the world where the know-how of floral decorations is probably at the top! Made from flowers, bamboo, coconut or banana leaves, these decorations adorn houses and temples in Bali and many of our guests make the most of their stay with us by learning about this beautiful tradition. This is what happened last week with family Liertz from Germany whose father is learning from our staff as shown on the picture.
At sunset, there is one thing that kids love above all: it is to walk along a sandy beach trying to catch the most possible crabs and seashells! On the photo, two sweet little girls Calypso and Lola run on the beach in the direction of the tall coconut tree that marks the boundary of the resort on the East side. A moment of pure happiness!
When we opened our new Bendega Restaurant last May, our idea was to create a different atmosphere from our other two restaurants Rama and Shinta.
The menu in particular was supposed to be different, more « beach oriented » with grilled fish and sea-food. Then came the idea « why not offering also these delicious tapas » but not the ones we are used to have in Europe, something revisited in the Balinese way.
After several discussions and attempts with our first Chef Surianta and his team, based on 3 main criteria – taste, texture and presentation- we selected around 20 of them, all really exceptional. Why exceptional? Because they are the perfect blend of two exceptional culinary cultures.
When do you decide to come over? Just waiting for your visit!
Impossible to miss these beautiful birds when staying at Dajuma because they are everywhere in the garden and not wild at all with humans.
This picture was taken from the bed of our Shanti duplex villa just before sunset : a couple of Yellow-vented bulbuls decided to have their « mandi mandi » (bath in Bahasa indonesia) just in front of the terrace. A fascinating and touching spectacle where you see birds toileting exactly (or almost …) like humans !
Practicing yoga at Dajuma is increasingly popular among our guests. Under the leadership of our yogi Tini, this discipline of body and mind can be practiced in multiple places in our resort: in our Baruna hall with its breathtaking view of the ocean, but also on our new pool deck Bendega or in the gardens bordering the beach. Another possibility consists in practicing it from its own room as shown by Monika on this picture.
One specific feature of Dajuma is the special relationship between our staff and young kids. In all parts of the resort, a special attention is given to them in terms of equipment such as swings, slide, balls, buoys, wading pools, etc. But the most important is definitively the communication between our staff and these young guests. Like on the picture where Juliarta, our restaurant supervisor, is greeting a young 2 years boy called Lyam. Welcome kids and enjoy!
Last Wednesday, Sept 7th, the Balinese started the celebration of Galungan which commemorates every 210 days, the triumph of Dharma (good) against Adharma (evil). It marks the time when the ancestral spirits visit the Earth. The last day of the celebration is Kuningan, 10 days later on Sept 17th, when they return.
All over Bali, bamboo poles called « penjor », finely decorated with young coconut leaves decorations, adorn streets and houses. This is a unique welcome to Bali if you happen to be on the island during this period. If you miss this one, don’t forget to put in your diary the next one which will take place from April 5 to 15th 2017.
Happy Galungan & Kuningan !
This is good news for our guests: the optical fiber has been installed up to our resort and works very well, complementing an already existing 4g telecommunications system!
Who could imagine a few years ago that these 2 latest technologies would be available so quickly in this part of Bali? It is done now making our guests very happy. With a ping around 5 ms and download / upload speeds in the range of respectively 20 and 5 Mbps, all Internet resources are available, including video streaming and demanding file transfers. Another good reason to stay with us!
Fishing off-shore is one of our in-house activity much appreciated by our guests. Jupry, our beach supervisor, himself son of a local fisherman, is always happy to organise a fishing party on one of these beautiful prahos. Starting from the West beach close by the resort, they sail a few miles between Bali and Java in a place where the fish is abundant. On the picture our guest Christopher is proud to show his catch, a beautiful Indian Threadfin also called Mirror fish which has been especially grilled and served to Christopher’s family for the dinner.
