IT'S THE BALINESE NEW YEAR

IT’S THE BALINESE NEW YEAR

15 November 2021/in News

From November 10 to 20, like every 210 days, Bali celebrates the Balinese New Year with 2 major highlights called Galungan (November 10) and Kunigan (November 20). During this festive period, all the gods of Bali, including Supreme Deity Sanghyang Widi, descend to earth to celebrate the creation of the universe and the victory of good over evil. The Balinese believe that their ancestors came back to earth to participate in the festivities, have fun, and enjoy the offerings.
To prepare Galungan, 6 days before, the Balinese carry out 2 purification rituals called Sugihan Jawa and Sugihan Bali. Sugihan Jawa has nothing to do with the island of Java and is called so because it was a tradition that originated from the Majapahit Empire. On this day, the Balinese present offerings to “cleanse” the universe (Bhuana Agung / Macrocosm) and usually come to the temples of the village (three main temples) to pray.
5 days before Galungan on a Friday, it is the Sugihan Bali ritual. It’s similar to Sugihan Jawa, but this time the Balinese “cleanse” themselves (Bhuana Alit / Microcosm) and pray at home. Both of these ceremonies are really important to do, indicating that we are ready to welcome Galungan with a clean and holy nature and spirit. In the photo, the majestic “penjors” which adorn the streets for Galungan. A masterpiece of beauty and spirituality!

DAJUMA ESCAPADES: NOSTALGIA OF THE RICE FIELDS

9 November 2021/in News

Bali is also famous for the beauty of its rice fields. The pandemic crisis has made us nostalgic about this. In Dajuma, we are fortunate to be surrounded by magnificent rice fields which are cultivated all year round with several harvests per year, depending on climatic conditions. What makes them special is the proximity of the volcanic slopes and the sea. We therefore offer several excursions in total immersion with local farmers who teach us how to plant or harvest rice. Parents and children love to discover the practices of this ancestral culture. Would you like to try?

NOW IS DURIAN SEASON IN BALI

NOW IS DURIAN SEASON IN BALI

25 October 2021/in News

This tropical fruit specific to Southeast Asia – its name comes from the Malaysian Duri, which means thorn – is very special. First of all by its shape (a rugby ball surrounded by spines) but above all by its smell – let’s say the word pestilential – when it has reached maturity. Tourists who love strong cheeses generally love it, as do all Bali residents. This year, the season starts earlier than usual and looks promising. An experience not to be missed on your next visit to Dajuma!

11 October 2021/in News

This week, Dajuma welcomed nursing staff from Negara general hospital, as a reward for their commitment for 18 months in the fight against COVID 19. For both the Indonesian Ministry of Health and the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy at the origin of this initiative, they have become leading heroes in the management of the health crisis. After struggling to cope with covid 19 for nearly 18 months, the government hopes, by giving this award to health workers, that they can refresh their minds and souls to keep themselves enthusiastic in the fight against all kinds of diseases. This weekend, they made a special entertainment program with all the members, and enjoy a lot their stay with us. They cooked a barbecue dinner and did personal performances. WHY NOT A BONFIRE ON HOLIDAY

WHY NOT A BONFIRE ON HOLIDAY?

4 October 2021/in News

Who has not kept the memory of a good bonfire from his childhood? So why not take advantage of your vacation to make one at the hotel where you are staying? With us in Dajuma it’s easy: just ask!
This is what the photo shows this week. Our guests Diana and Marra with their little kid had a great evening by the fire. They even roasted mashmallows which delighted the children around.

FLORAL DECORATION

FLORAL DECORATION

27 September 2021/in News

The art of floral decoration is practiced on all occasions by all Balinese families. On festive occasions, it takes a special turn with these majestic “panjors” that adorn the roadsides everywhere in Bali. In Dajuma, this beautiful tradition is perpetuated every day, everywhere in the resort with its magnificent flowery basins. In the restaurant each table receives a bouquet that is changed regularly according to the mood of our staff. It brings to the meal a touch of color and scent that enchants our guests. Also regularly, we organize floral decoration workshops where our guests learn how to create complex floral compositions, which combine flowers, wood and bamboo. An experience we would be happy to offer you on the occasion of your next stay!

BEACHES AROUND DAJUMA, A WORLD IN ITSELF

BEACHES AROUND DAJUMA, A WORLD IN ITSELF

20 September 2021/in News

When we go on vacation to the other side of the world, we attach a lot of importance, and rightly so, to the quality of the beaches of the hotel we have chosen: is it sand or rocks, clean and well maintained, is it light (coral) or dark (volcanic) sand? Dajuma, being located on a cape which is discovered at low tide for several hundred meters, is lucky to be surrounded by 3 very different beaches for all tastes: to the east, more than 20 km of fine sandy beaches almost virgin suitable for walking and jogging, to the west, the ocean is much calmer and a large sandy beach shared with local fishermen is suitable for swimming and body boarding. Between the two is the protective cape with its natural pots and corals which are discovered at low tide, a true paradise for children.

Now the question that often comes up: is the sand coral or volcanic? Well the answer is “both”. Indeed, depending on the tides and the times of the year, the ocean brings back either coral sand as shown in the photo, or volcanic sand, even softer to the feet and shining with a thousand lights.

Other questions that come up often: are they clean and what about sunsets? The answer is absolutely yes in both cases, because every day they are thoroughly cleaned by our staff. It is part of our eco-policy. The orientation of Dajuma being due west the sunsets are magnificent.

Last point to emphasize specific to Dajuma, we offer our guests massages on the beach in direct contact with the volcanic rock loaded with trace elements. Followed by a visit to the hammam and the hot tub of our spa, they guarantee you a perfect fitness! Welcome to our exciting Balinese beaches!
