Dajuma Experience: Genuine Balinese Food

One of our “Dajuma Experiences” particularly appreciated by our guests is a lunch in the pure Balinese tradition. We prepare this unique experience on the occasion of our farming and plantation tours. For the farming tour, the lunch takes place in the middle of the rice fields as shown on the picture, whereas, for the plantation one, the pique-nique is held in the mountain with a breathtaking view of the ocean. In both cases, the food is prepared and cooked by our local friends from the nearby villages. The various foods that are served are really like what the local people are serving at home for their family. In the rice farming tour the dishes are presented in the “Kubu” (small gazebo) and guest really enjoy a delicious lunch with beautiful scenery and fresh air of the rice terraces. 2 NEW AWARDS FOR DAJUMA

Puri Dajuma has just received two new awards from TripExpert and HotelsCombined. In both cases, the award is based on an in-depth analysis of our situation in terms of satisfaction of our guests and travel industry professionals. HotelsCombined is an Australian-based company which collected 563 reviews about Dajuma leading to a 9.2 out of 10 rating. For its part, TripExpert states that “fewer than 2% of hotels worldwide receive their award which is based on 1 million reviews from 85 publications such as travel guides, magazines, newspapers” .

We are really proud of it and would like to thank all of our staff and partners who, by their dedication and professionalism made it possible. A special thanks to all our guests who took time to report about their experience with Dajuma, always with very kind and touching words!

IDEAL PLACE FOR YOGA

Located in the West part of Bali, renowned for its authenticity and tranquility, Puri Dajuma is the ideal place where to placate and revigorate your body and soul by practicing yoga, meditation or any other ways you prefer.
Last week we welcomed 2 yoga groups. The first one from Austria, driven by Monika, came with 8 members for the fourth time since 2015. They practiced yoga twice every day (morning & afternoon). We also arranged special “Melukat” / Water Blessing Ceremony as their special request.
The second group was Elitsa’s group from Bulgaria, with 19 participant for their first time in Dajuma. They did yoga once a day, and enjoyed a lot our massages at our spa during their spare time. For other groups who would like to come, we are pleased to offer specific arrangements such as ceremonies, special decorations, events, tours, etc.).

COTTAGES RENOVATION

We just completed the renovation of our cottages. Under the direction of Muri (pictured, second from the right) a team of skilled workers have completely renovated – floor-to-ceiling -, bedroom, bathroom and terrace so as to make our cottages even more comfortable. A big change has been made in the bathroom, now open on nature with its freestanding bathtub, its two basins, its suspended toilet, its private garden and its outdoor shower. What a pleasure to take a shower under the stars! Our regular customers have all acclaimed this renovation. We hope you will be of the same opinion during your next stay!

PASSION FRUIT JUST FOR YOU

Our guests often refer in their comments to the lush garden of Dajuma, qualified as “manicured garden”. It is not only true for its 1,5 ha which surrounds the villas, but also the case for the private gardens which are facing the entrance of our Bendega villas. The idea came one year and a half ago from our GM Alit to make growing different species, fruit on the West side and flowers on the East side of the Bendega villas. The result after a few months if just astonishing. Can you imagine, when opening the door of your room in the morning, having view on passion fruit, mangoes, papayas and dragon fruits, just for you? CELEBRATION OF DAJUMA TEMPLE

On March 31st, took place an important ceremony at Dajuma, called Piodalan / Puja Wali, aimed at honoring our main temple. Every temple in Bali has its own Piodalan day, based on when the temple was inaugurated. Two references are used to determine the day of the Piodalan, which can be either based on Pawukon (Balinese weekly calendar), in this case the ceremony will be held twice a year or based on Sasih (Saka Calendar) for which the ceremony will be held once a year (mostly on full moon day).
Our lovely temple at Dajuma has its Piodalan on the full moon of the tenth month (Purnama Kedasa) every year and this year it was on 31st March 2018. Piodalan is like anniversary for the temple, its purpose being to keep the balance of the 3 relations which is creates the harmony of the life according to the Tri Hita Karana philosophy: harmony between the human and the God, harmony between the human and environment and harmony between humans themselves. On the pictures, our staff beautifully dressed with ceremony clothes, accompanied by our guests immersed in the heart of the Balinese culture.

NYEPI & MELASTI at DAJUMA

Last saturday, took place the Balinese New Year 1940 in the Saka calendar, the famous holy day called Nyepi. Imagine the island totally quiet, the airport closed, and all Balinese families staying at home, praying and meditating for one full day.
Indispensable companion of Nyepi, a few days before, was the Melasti purification ceremony. Melasti was meant as the ritual to cleanse the world from all the filth of sin and bad karma, through the symbolic act of acquiring the Tirta Amerta, “the water of life”.
At Dajuma, as shown on the picture, Meslasti was celebrated with our guests according to the tradition on the edge of the beach with the aim to purify oneself of all the bad things in the past and throw it to the ocean. Selamat Hari Raya Nyepi!

DAJUMA AT ITB BERLIN 2018

Marker of the year in the tourism industry, ITB Berlin took place this year from March 7th to 11th. Like in 2017, Dajuma was lucky enough this year to participate as exhibitor in the Indonesia Pavillion, a unique opportunity to meet our partners and to understand the new trends in the market place. We like this specific moment in the year where we have time to exchange experiences with our colleagues and partners and find new ideas in order to make our guests even more happy. The organisation of the Indonesian Pavillion was just perfect thanks to the professionalism of Wonderful Indonesia organisation and the Ministry of Tourism. Many thanks guys for supporting so brilliantly our activities!

Last week, we had a nice surprise when welcoming a young couple from California, carrying a beautiful photo album prepared by someone very dear to our hearts, Camille Duclot.
Excellent photographer, Camille made several trips to Dajuma and knotted with our staff relations of friendship that endure over time. Her kindness and joie de vivre is reflected in each page of this wonderful album. A million thanks Camille! When will you come back to see us?
