« Bunut Bolong »: a unique tree!
Starting from Puri Dajuma up to the North crossroad, climbing again 9 km and passing by the State plantation entrance, you will certainly make a stop at « Bunut Bolong ».
‘Bunut’ is the Balinese name for this kind of banyan-tree, ‘Bolong’ means hole: nothing to say when the hole is big enough to accommodate two cars crossing the tree together!
Impossible to cut it down and no means to build the road besides; it is a sacred tree, inhabited by spirits symbolized by two tigers.
Moreover the set of shrines with the tree honors the great sage Sidhi Mantra who happened to pass this area hundreds of years ago.
Long story, scenic road in the nature, unique display and few shops to drink and look at the place seated in the shadow: many assets for a nice stop.
